One step further could be to introduce addrv3 that does not carry a timestamp at all, which is related to @danielabrozzoni’s Fingerprinting nodes via addr requests - #13 by danielabrozzoni - Protocol Design - Delving Bitcoin . However, this does not solve what timestamps we set in repose to addrv1/addrv2 getaddr requests that we still need to support.

As got pointed out: The timestamps in addr messages currently limit the spread of self-annoucements. Without it, we wouldn’t stop relaying an self-annoucement at all.
