Thanks for posting! I think this addr-spam is interesting, but I didn’t get a chance to look closer into it while it happened. I should have data from the connectivity-check peer-observer tool (“A peer-observer tool that checks the connectivity of received addr(v2) message entries by connecting to the addresses and trying to do a version handshake. The results are recorded in a CSV file.”). If someone is interested in diving deeper, I’m happy to share this. This should give us an overview over:
- how many IPs were gossiped in
addrmessages over time? - how many of then were unreachable?
- which are unreachable ones that appeared only after the addr-spam started?
- are there any specific IP or timing patterns?
- …
